A new American study has found that there is no relationship between eating potatoes and the risk of heart disease, whether in relation to its muscle infarction, stroke, or blood vessels.
The results of a study conducted by the Brigham Center for Women’s Health in the American city of Boston, and published by the Nutrients Magazine, that the analyzes did not prove the existence of a link between eating grilled, boiled or fried potatoes and the risk of cardiovascular disease, even after taking into account the demographic, food and behavioral factors .
On the other hand, the scientists explained that people who eat more than one fried potato meal per week are increasing in the risk of high blood pressure by 10% compared to those who do not eat it, and that this effect is linked to an increase in the percentage of fat and salt in fried potatoes and not with its properties.
The researchers attributed the impact of patients with high blood pressure who eat fried potatoes to their high calories and excess salt.
The study relied on the analysis of the health condition of about 67,146 patients, whose ages ranged from one year to 72 years, to know the risk of cardiovascular disease, and the average number of times they consumed potatoes vary between time to 9 times a week.
